1. Physical filtering:

Adsorption: The surface of the sand has a certain adsorption capacity, which can adsorb small particles and colloidal substances in water.

3. Backwashing: Over time, impurities in the sand layer will gradually accumulate, resulting in a decrease in filtration efficiency. In order to restore the filtration effect, the sand filter needs to be backwashed regularly. Backwashing is to reverse the water flow through the sand layer, and wash out the accumulated impurities at a higher flow rate to restore the filtration capacity of the sand layer.
